Shelley Sperling fell in love with acting at the age of eleven. Her brother, sister (director/producer/writer of Notes), and family friend created their own productions that were roughly planned out on a classic whiteboard. When improvisation ran out, they used to call an intermission and yell, “To the whiteboard!” They would then plan the second half of the show. The whiteboard that started it all became the inspiration for their production company WhiteBoard SmorgasBord. Shelley continued to act throughout high school and joined the organization Peers Influence Peers Partnership, a company which creates narrative and documentary films surrounding teen issues such as dating abuse, drugs, and domestic violence. She had lead roles in three of the company's films and was able to experience diverse dramatic roles, playing an abuse victim, a self-harmer, and a prescription drug addict. Shelley knew that acting was her calling and eventually wrote her college essay in the form of a play script. She graduated from SUNY Oneonta with Bachelor's degrees in both Theatre and Mass Communication. She would like to thank her sister for creating such an in-depth screenplay and character for her to portray so early on in her acting career.
